Who's your boss?

Working a job you don't like is exhausting.

I have worked all my life. I started volunteering at the Haven Public Library when I was 13, and I began working there every summer afterward until I left for college in 2001.

I worked in libraries. I worked in offices. I worked in agencies. And now, even though I’m self-employed, I’m still working. (By the way, if anyone tells you that self-employment is less stressful than a traditional job, they’re smoking something. FYI.)

Work is hard, y’all. I think that’s why they call it work. That silly axiom you hear frequently? Do something you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Yeah. No. Not true.

Don’t get me wrong. I love my work. I love doing what I do. But long before I got to this place where I get to choose what I do, I had to choose to love my work.
