Where do we find joy?
December 5 - December 9, 2022 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Walking With Joy Week 1
Happy December, friends!
It’s so hard to believe that Always Peachy Devotions has been running for an entire year. Some of you have already renewed your subscriptions, and I’m so grateful. Thank you so much for your continued support. I pray for each of you often, and I am really excited about our topic for December. JOY.
Yes, we’re going to talk about joy. Because there’s not enough of it in the world, in my humble opinion. But we aren’t just going to pretend that everything is fine and life is sunshine and daisies.
It’s not.
But you know that. We are in one of the darkest times in human history right now. I truly believe that. But I also believe that it’s when life is the darkest that they light is the easiest to find. So of course we need to talk about joy! What else are we going to talk about?
And, no, it’s not denial. We’re going to talk about the difference between walking with joy and living in denial later this month. If there is a time in history when we needed joy, it’s this one.
So string up the lights. Grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate. Crank up the Christmas carols. Snuggle up next to your Christmas tree. And let’s get real about getting joyful.
It’s not about stuff. It’s not about wealth. It’s not about being financially stable or physically healthy or mentally sound or emotionally resolved. Don’t get me wrong. All of those things are lovely if you have them, but you don’t get joy from any of those places.
There’s one source of joy, and His name is Jesus. And that’s what we’re talking about this week:
December 5 - Laughing is good medicine
December 6 - Laughing through the bad days
December 7 - Laughing through the good days
December 8 - Laughing instead of crying
December 9 - Laughing can be worship
Are you ready for this, guys? Because I am. As the world grows darker and sadder by the day, I’m ready to embrace the joy that Jesus has set aside for us. It’s our superpower.
And for this week’s memory verse, we’re going old school, all the way back to Nehemiah!
Nehemiah was such a special guy. God did some pretty awesome things through him, and this was him talking to his men at the end of a pretty big trial. He’d told them to take a rest, to get some food, to chill out, and he wanted them to remember that God’s joy was their strength.
So live your life in such a way that it brings God joy, and you will find yourself full of His power in a way you’d never expect.
There are so many things to tell you guys about, and I haven’t got space today. But I’ll tell you as soon as I can. Thank you all for your continued support and please let me know how I can be praying for you.
Hugs!
Amy
