What should we bring to worship?

Hello there, friends!

Hope your May is going well. Mine is nuts, which is no surprise for those of you who know me. I’m always running around like a headless chicken.

I hope this study about worship is encouraging you and giving you lots to think about. Worship is such a sticky subject for a lot of folks. Whew, and we haven’t even gotten into the really serious stuff yet!

Last week we really just talked about the basics of what worship actually is, and this week we’re going to talk about what you need to bring with you to worship.

That makes it sound like you need to pack a bag whenever you intend to worship, doesn’t it? LOL! The truth is, all you need to worship is a heart in tune with God. If you’ve got Jesus, you are already connected to Him.

But the Bible makes it pretty clear in many places that God responds to certain attitudes. If we come to Him with the wrong attitude, He may not answer us. If we offer Him something that meets our personal standards but not His, He may not listen.

So what do you need to bring to worship God in a way where you can know He’ll respond? That’s what we’re talking about this week.

  • May 9 - Gratitude

  • May 10 - Humility

  • May 11 - Wisdom

  • May 12 - Honesty

  • May 13 - Faith

Sounds pretty straightforward, doesn’t it? Well, it’s harder than it looks, especially when you consider this troublesome little issue called Human Nature. We all have to contend with it.

When we worship God, whether it’s through singing corporately or serving as a volunteer or doing whatever it is He has called us to do, it’s our hope that He will accept what we offer Him. Fortunately He’s clear on what He will accept and why. Regardless, we want our actions and thoughts and choices to make Him happy.

So to help us remember that, our memory verse this week is Psalm 19:14.

Psalm 19:14. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

It’s my hope and prayer that we all learn how to worship the Lord in everything we do and say.

Blessings to you all,

Amy
