What can we expect from God?
August 29 - September 2, 2022 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Expectations Week 5
Happy Last Week of August!
Can you believe the end of this week will be September? My goodness. Where has this year gone? I was talking with a friend a little while ago, and we both just agreed that 2022 must be moving faster simply because it feels like 2020 and 2021 just didn’t happen.
Craziness.
Anyway, I hope you all are doing well and that this study about expectations has been a blessing. It’s been a great reminder for me to challenge my mindset just in general. We’ve talked about so many different approaches to expectations this month, like why they matter and what we should and shouldn’t expect. But then we also talked about what we should do when God answers us AND how to live expectantly.
So this week, we’re going to talk about what what we can expect from God. He’s made some very specific promises to us, and because we know He always keeps His promises, we can make these expectations part of our daily lives:
August 29 - Expect His blessings
August 30 - Expect His discipline
August 31 - Expect His direction
September 1 - Expect His help
September 2 - Expect His return
I’d like to live knowing that I can expect all those things from God, wouldn’t you? Man, sign me up.
What is it that keeps us from living with expectation? In my experience, it’s fear. And fear is something we’re going to talk about in September. But I thought it might be a good idea to mention it now.
You can trust God. Fully. Completely. He’ll never leave you. He’ll always be with you. That’s His promise to you, over and over and over again. So you don’t have to be afraid.
This week’s memory verse is Deuteronomy 31:8, which says:
No matter where you go, how far you wander, how crazy your life gets, you won’t be alone. You don’t have to be afraid. Don’t let fear get in the way of your living an expectant life. Just make sure your expectations are in line with what God has promised.
I’m praying for each of you this week. I hope you know how much God loves you and how thankful I am for each and every one of you.
Blessings,
Amy
