When I was in junior high, I took a sewing class through our local county 4-H group. Part of the class was presenting your work at the country fair.
I signed up to make a pair of culottes. (Yes. It was the 90s.) I picked the sewing pattern, measured it to fit, and pinned the pattern to the fabric before I cut it, so I’d be sure to cut it right.
I would have preferred to make a wizard’s cloak, but I was being evaluated on culottes. So the pattern I used had to be for culottes. Using any other pattern would have guaranteed my failure.
