Have you ever heard of MacGuffin? If you aren’t a story-nerd, you may not know this term. (And, no, don’t confuse it with the old textbooks from the mid-19th century. Those were McGuffey Readers.)
A MacGuffin is basically an object that the hero or villain in a story believes will solve all their problems. The Maltese Falcon. The Holy Grail. The One Ring. The Infinity Gauntlet. It can be the crown jewels in a heist story or a messiah figure like Neo in the Matrix movies.
It’s the One Thing that will make the world make sense.
It works for telling stories, but did you know it also works in your daily life? Did you realize that there’s a MacGuffin when it comes to following God?
