My Recommended Reading Order
There are so many stories. Where should you start reading? Here's the post where I give you an idea of the order you can read my books in!
Happy Writing Wednesday, friends! What are you working on this week?
Okay, something folks have been asking for lately is a recommended reading order for the Mazzaroth books. I honestly can’t believe I hadn’t put one together yet.
Again, just to clarify, there are three series within the Heirs of the Mazzaroth Universe:
The Legend of the Lightkeepers
REISHOSAN: Samurai Defenders
The Dragons of the Diamond Throne
All of these stories start off in the year 2010. Why 2010? Well, when I started writing them I thought that was so far away that I could surely get most of them done by the time it got here. (Yes, laugh. Laugh at my youthful idealism.)
The benefit of it is that I lived through the 2010s so I don’t need to look up details about it on Wikipedia.
All that being said, there is some confusion about where to start with these books, primarily because of the craziness with Meg Mitchell and the Secret of the Journal. It was technically the first book, but since it’s no longer considered canon, that makes Stan Hawthorne and the Broken Sword the first currently published book chronologically, but it doesn’t have the number 1 on it. Ronnie Akkard and the Brotherhood of the Blades does.
It’s a mess. I know. It’s on me. But hopefully this will help you sort it out.
There are currently five books available in the Heirs of the Mazzaroth Series. My recommended reading order is as follows:
Barb Taylor and the Russian Dolls
Stan Hawthorne and the Broken Sword
Ronnie Akkard and the Brotherhood of the Blades
Karl Goodson and the Food Truck Fiasco
Reena Ellis and the Pink Panda Problem
Now, you can read them in any order you like. While they do build on each other, they aren’t dependent on each other. They may make reference to things that happened in previous books, but you don’t need that information to understand the current story.
Originally, Meg Mitchell and the Secret of the Journal would have been the book to start with. However, it is officially no longer “canon” in this series. Too much has changed. Too many things are different. Some things will remain similar, but even then they are changing so drastically it’s not even worth retaining it in the catalog. So consider it an alternate universe! LOL!
Moving forward, Lord willing, by the end of 2025, this is what I hope the recommended reading order will look like:
Five Warriors (releasing 2025)
Meg Mitchell Book (releasing 2025)
Barb Taylor and the Russian Dolls
Stan Hawthorne and the Broken Sword
Ronnie Akkard and the Brotherhood of the Blades
Karl Goodson and the Food Truck Fiasco
Reena Ellis and the Pink Panda Problem
Sam Logan and the Sword of the Sun (releasing 2025)
That’s the plan! We will see if I can get it done. Then, of course, the intent will be that in 2026 there will be more that release. Again, if I can get my act together, my hope is to release at least three books every year. Maybe more.
If you want a more comprehensive reading order with more titles listed, you can always visit my website where I have a full recommended reading order list. Just note that titles and some series numbers are subject to change as I am constantly in the process of rearranging them!
Now, in case you would like to know the actual reading order by chronological publication dates, I’ll post that below:
Stan Hawthorne and the Broken Sword (2019)
Ronnie Akkard and the Brotherhood of the Blades (2020)
Karl Goodson and the Food Truck Fiasco (2022)
Barb Taylor and the Russian Dolls (2024)
Reena Ellis and the Pink Panda Problem (2024)
So if you want to see the growth in my writing skill, that’s the order you should read! And, believe me, it’s pretty obvious!
I hope that is helpful for you. If you have any questions or would like more information, please give me a shout. Thanks for hanging out!
Until next week!
Amy
