Make Jesus your safe place
I love the Bible so much, but often times I really wish it would be a little plainer about HOW to do this Christianity thing.
Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Query: Do you think it’s possible for fruit to grow by itself?
Like can grapes or strawberries or watermelons just spring into existence out of nothing? That’s a silly question. Of course fruit doesn’t just spontaneously appear. It has to be grown intentionally. It doesn’t just happen.
What’s more, if you pick fruit too early, it will be bitter or sour or green tasting. You’ve got to let it stay on the vine long enough to become ripe. If you disconnect the fruit from the vine before it’s ready, it won’t be any good.
Does this sound familiar yet?
John 15 is one of the most famous chapters in all the Bible. Once you start reading it, you recognize it instantly. But it’s SO MUCH HARDER to live it. What does it even mean to “remain” in Jesus anyway? I love the Bible so much, but often times I really wish it would be a little plainer about HOW to do this Christianity thing.
