Joy comes with an instruction manual

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all have had a glorious celebration, and because it’s Christmas Day, we’re going to keep this short.

I hope this study about joy has been a blessing to you. It’s been so meaningful for me as I navigated through some really painful times this month. We’ve talked about where we find joy, how joy is a superpower, and how we can live joyfully even when life hurts. But there’s something else we need to talk about.

Has anyone gotten a really complicated Christmas present? Like IKEA furniture or something? Some gifts are so complex you can’t even enjoy them without an instruction manual, and some days that’s how I feel about joy.

Joy is a complicated emotion. It’s all tangled up with other feelings and life experiences and past trauma, and even when you feel joyful you can still feel sad. It’s crazy. But fortunately for us, our Joy comes with an instruction manual!

So for this last week of 2022, we’re going to go over a few verses about how joy works in our lives.

  • December 26 - Joy is found in a new day

  • December 27 - Joy is found where Jesus is

  • December 28 - Joy is found in Jesus’ words

  • December 29 - Joy is found in Jesus’ way

  • December 30 - Joy is found in Jesus

To go along with our study this week, here’s our memory verse, John 15:11.

I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! (John 15:11)

Thank you all so much for your continued support and the beautiful community we are building here on the internet. I have some really exciting news coming soon, but I want to make sure everything is squared away before I announce it officially. Just know that you all will be among the first to hear.

I appreciate you all, and I pray that your New Year’s Celebrations are blessed.

Hugs,

Amy
