How does wholeness change the way we live?
June 15-21, 2025 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Wholeness Week 3
Have you ever struggled with insecurity?
I think it’s normal for most people, to be honest, whether we realize we are insecure or not. Granted, I don’t think we walk around talking about how insecure we are. It’s not usually something we are proud of.
For me, insecurity comes when I’m in a new situation where I don’t know what I’m doing or what I should expect. I watched a friend’s kids the other day, and there were several morning routines that I didn’t know how to navigate. You wouldn’t think asking some kids to get up and get dressed would be paralyzing. But what if I did it wrong?
I had to take a deep breath and get a hold of myself because it absolutely wasn’t anything worth worrying about, but insecurity is insidious. Fear of doing something wrong can creep into all areas of our lives, personal and professional. Fear of how you might fail can turn you to stone and prevent you from doing even the simplest things. In the end, though, it’s just fear. Nothing more complicated than that.
But that isn’t a surprise to God. None of our weaknesses surprise Him, and they actually don’t disappoint Him either. He knows that we are frail and flawed. He knows that despite our best efforts, we can’t succeed without His help. He also knows the challenges we will face in our daily life, and He knows what we need to be victorious. It’s just up to us to ask Him for help, believing that He has already provided everything we need.
If we are confident that He has already provided for our needs, that belief will affect every area of our lives. That’s what we are talking about this week, how God making us whole changes every relationship and dynamic in our lives. Or at least, how it should change us.
Monday - How we see ourselves (John 15:15)
Tuesday - How we treat others (Colossians 3:12-15)
Wednesday - How we make decisions (2 John 1:6-8)
Thursday - How we choose our values (Psalm 37:23-24)
Friday - How we relate to God (Hebrews 4:16)
Once we understand and truly embrace how the wholeness God has given us can change us, the next step is to start living that way. It’s not easy. It’s a challenge, for sure. But God doesn’t just provide us with the wholeness we need to tackle the life challenges we face on a daily basis, He has made us complete in Him in every way so that we have the ability to follow Jesus.
He has given us access to all the spiritual resources we could ever need. We just need to ask for them. That’s what our memory verse this week is about, Ephesians 1:3.
Every spiritual blessing. What does that mean to you? What does it look like to have access to every spiritual blessing in God’s holy arsenal?
There is nothing we can ever need in our lives that is bigger than what God has done for us. There is no conflict, challenge, or fear we can run into that is more powerful than the God who lives in us. That doesn’t mean we won’t face problems. That doesn’t mean we won’t run into trouble. We’ll be derailed and distracted and discouraged like anyone else, but we have help.
God is waiting for us to ask for it. Let’s all make a habit of asking more often.
Praying for you guys this week.
Amy
