How does God help me with my anxiety?
August 14 - August 18, 2023 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Managing Anxiety Week 3
Feeling some anxiety is a normal part of life.
I wish that weren’t the case, but it’s true. When life is bigger than we are, when situations are out of our control, when we are relying on circumstances for our success, anxiety is the natural result.
Life is too big for any of us.
Fortunately God never intended for us to do life on our own. He always planned to be intimately involved in our lives, helping us handle the troubles that come our way. But people have their own ideas, as people usually do.
It started with Adam and Eve, our first parents. They wanted to make their own way. They wanted to be like God. So they disobeyed Him, and we’ve been paying for that choice ever since. From that moment, anxiety entered the world, and none of us have ever been free of facing it.
But that doesn’t mean anxiety has to control our lives. Just because we’re going to face it doesn’t mean it must control us. God is still here, and He is always making ways for us where there don’t seem to be ways out.
Anxiety isn’t a beast we have to fight by ourselves. God is right there with us, giving us strength, increasing our courage, and empowering us with His Spirit to stand our ground against the fears that threaten to overcome us.
But how? How does God do it? How are the ways we can trust that He will come alongside us in the daily battle against anxiety? That’s what we are going to talk about this week!
August 14 - Trust God not yourself
August 15 - Get your eyes on Jesus
August 16 - Find the source of your peace
August 17 - God is your helper
August 18 - God is the God of Peace
I’m eager to dive into these truths about our Heavenly Father and how He supports us in our daily walk. If there’s one thing we need to remember about God, it’s that He has made a name for Himself as a Rescuer. He doesn’t leave His people to fend for themselves, even when they are suffering through consequences they earned.
God hears us when we call out to Him, and He comes to help us when we need Him. He never fails. And that’s what our memory verse this week is all about. This week, we are learning Psalm 34:17.
God is our help. God is our rescuer. He is the only one who can lift us out of our anxieties and give us the gift of His peace. He’s the Lord of Peace, as we’ll learn this week, and He already made a way for us to release our worries. We just have to make the decision for ourselves.
Living in God’s peace is a daily decision, and I pray that by the end of this month we will each have the spiritual weapons we need to tell our anxieties to take a hike.
God is greater than our fears. We can trust Him completely.
Love you all and praying for you!
Amy
