How do we live expectantly?

How’s it going, friends?

Hard to believe August is coming to a close. Seriously, has this summer flown for anyone else, or is it just me? Maybe it’s all the traveling.

While it’s been a great couple of months, I have to admit I’m ready for conference season to be done. I love seeing all my peeps and chatting with all my coaching clients in various locations, but I’m very much ready to be back in a regular routine. One that isn’t interrupted every few weeks by a monster road trip!

I’m also unreasonably excited for autumn. Cooler temps! Fuzzy sweaters! And pumpkin-flavored everything!! (Come on. Be honest. Where my pumpkin-lovers at?) Also, there are so many exciting things coming I can’t wait to share, I’m just buzzing with excitement.

But, we aren’t there yet, and this week we are going to get into some practical elements of what it means to live a life of godly expectation. It’s one thing to talk about why our expectations matter and what we can expect and how to respond when God answers us, but how do we get to that place? What does it look like to live an expectant life?

  • August 22 - Take steps of faith

  • August 23 - Give generously

  • August 24 - Forgive the unforgivable

  • August 25 - Love the unlovable

  • August 26 - Live for today

It may sound impossible to live this way, but that’s also kind of the point. When you choose to follow Jesus, you can’t do it right without His help. What’s more: You’re not supposed to. Life has always been too much for us without Him. If you want to be able to live a life expecting great things from God, this is how you’ll do it.

For our memory verse this week, we’re going toward the back of the New Testament into an epistle written by our favorite loud-mouth disciple, 1 Peter 1:3.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation.

I’m ready to live with great expectation, aren’t you? God is wonderful and powerful and everything we need, so it only makes sense that He’d offer us an impossible life. I’m ready to stop expecting the worst. I don’t want to respond to life by not getting my hopes up. I want to look down the road at where He has me going and be able to move forward in confidence, with absolute certainty that God’s got some big stuff up His sleeves.

Because He does.

Let’s go find out together, shall we? Praying for all of you this week!

Amy
