How can we defeat fear in our lives?
September 26 - September 30, 2022 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Fear Week 4
Hello, friends!
Well, look at this: It’s the last week of September! How on earth did that happen? Is anyone tired of pumpkin yet? I’m not. I don’t even think our leaves are changing colors the way they’re supposed to yet, but it’s barely fall officially. I suppose I can be patient.
I just love fall weather so much, I’m impatient!
September has been a tough month, hasn’t it? Talking about fear is always a challenge, I find. Like no other emotion, fear turns us into people who are unrecognizable. It makes us do things we regret, and it makes us hide from opportunities that could transform our lives. So it’s important to recognize fear, and it’s even more important to know how to defeat it.
That’s what we’re talking about this week: How can we defeat fear in our lives?
September 26 - Accept it
September 27 - Acknowledge it
September 28 - Challenge it
September 29 - Recognize it
September 30 - Surrender it
I hope all this has been encouraging and useful for you. Fear is something I’ve struggled with for most of my life, and I’m only now beginning to understand how to manage it. Anxiety is real, folks. It doesn’t always show up like you expect it to either, so you need to make sure you’ve got a solid foundation to stand on. Otherwise, your feet will end up knocked out from under you.
God really knew what He was doing when He filled the Word full of statements like “Don’t be afraid” and “Fear not.” He knew that we would try to control our lives and that we would fail, and once you do that, the only alternative is worry.
I figured it was only right that we memorize Philippians 4:6-7 this week:
It’s a long verse, but this is one that will serve you for as long as you draw breath. When you start worrying, start praying instead. Always be grateful. And then, God will give you peace that passes understanding.
Sounds like a pretty great trade-off, wouldn’t you agree?
As we move deeper into the autumn season, I hope the Lord is blessing you in every aspect of your life. I pray over each of these devotions before I schedule them, and it’s my hope that you get to know the Lord on a deeper level than ever before through them.
He loves you with an unfailing love. Just FYI.
Hugs, my friends!
Amy
