Hang on, y'all. This is gonna be good.
April was a blessed time of rest and quiet. But it's time to move forward. God's got big plans for all of us, and because He is good, His plans are good.
Hello, dear friends.
I hope the last full week of April 2025 has been kind to you. Here in the central plains we have finally gotten some much-needed rain (although as per usual it can’t just be one storm, we have to have 20 in a row … our drought has turned into a flood).
First off, thank you. I don’t have the words to adequately express my gratitude for giving me the space to take a month off. Not a single person unsubscribed. Actually, several people joined the community, some of those paid subscriptions! That was such a blessing and a gift to me. Looking back on where I was at the end of March, I was so much more raw and fragile than I realized. Trying to press through and keep writing wouldn’t have worked. And having the confidence that you guys would understand—and would continue to support me in prayer and in so many other ways—is a blessing beyond what I ever expected. So, thank you. My prayer and hope is that the Lord will encourage and uplift each of you the same way you have done for me.
Secondly, I’ve been able to rest throughout April, and it’s time to get back to work. At least, in part. I wanted you all to know that I will be starting up regular daily devotions on the Always Peachy channel this coming Sunday, April 27 (paid subscriber devos drop Monday, April 28). The last several weeks have reminded me a lot about rest, and I’m eager to share what God has taught me. Fiction and other creative pursuits are still lagging a bit. I have ideas, but I haven’t been able to get them from my mind onto a page with any sort of consistency yet. So I’m going to keep giving my creative brain time to rest and find its own way back to the page.
Finally, I did want to let you know that I won’t be including the “deeper study” questions in the daily devotions. It was something I was experimenting with, and while I loved adding them, they ended up requiring a significant amount of study beyond what I was already doing. So for those of you who really want to do deeper study, let me encourage you to look up the passages when I announce them on Sundays. Try writing them in a notebook. Use BibleHub.com to look up the word meaning. See if you can do some of your own cross-referencing in advance of the devotional. Maybe one of these days I will get to the place where I can go back to deeper study questions, but this season is one where I just don’t have capacity.
Also … I heard this song on the radio the other day, and I felt like it fits my mood at the moment. So, I figured I’d share it with you guys.
Again, thank you all for sticking with me. I’m so excited to get to start sharing encouragement from God’s Word every day. I have missed it, and I have missed each of you.
I am praying for all of you. May the Lord go before each of us in everything we do, and may we never forget all He has done for us.
Hang on for the ride, friends. It’s gonna be good.
