God is the source of our provision
Always Peachy Devotions | God Has Provided: A Study of Isaiah (November 2-8 2025)
Then the Lord will provide shade for Mount Zion and all who assemble there. He will provide a canopy of cloud during the day and smoke and flaming fire at night, covering the glorious land. (Isaiah 4:5)
Welcome to November!
Has the year flown for anyone else? I feel like we were just beginning 2025, and now it’s nearly over. I’m okay with that, though. It’s been a rough year, full of all sorts of challenges and hardships, but it’s also been a season of blessings and abundance that has overflowed.
Normally in November, we like to focus on gratitude. We talk about thankfulness. Much of that is due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, and that’s as it should be. We can all learn to be a little more grateful. Personally, though, I prefer to aim for gratitude all year long and not just in November. I don’t always get it right, but it’s the thought that counts right?
So as I was praying about what to share for this month of devotions, I felt very strongly led to the book of Isaiah. No, we aren’t going to deep dive into the whole book. I wish. We don’t have time for that. Maybe some day. But there have been four specific passages that have really stood out to me throughout the month of October in my personal quiet times:
Isaiah 11:1-5
Isaiah 43:10-13
Isaiah 45:18-19
I don’t know why these particular passages have been so central in my personal prayer time over the last month, but they were like neon lights. And since they meant so much to me, I thought maybe they might be meaningful to others. That’s where we are going to focus this month, on those four passages.
After I read through them all in one sitting, I realized something that ties them all together. All of these passages are either talking about how God will provide or how He has provided already. And what better focus for a month of gratitude than thinking about how God has provided for us already? Because if we know what He has provided today, it’s a lot easier to rely on Him to provide for tomorrow too.
This week’s memory verse is Isaiah 4:5. I love how it points backward to how God provided the pillar of cloud and fire while He was leading the Israelites through the wilderness, but this isn’t referencing a time in the past. This is a promise for the future.
When all is said and done, when this life has ended and all the world is finally at peace under the reign of Jesus, God will provide for our safety. He will take care of us in that world-to-come.
Just think about that. If God can provide for us today, with all our various challenges and obstacles and struggles, what will He do for us in that world where there is no sin? What will He be able to provide for us in a world that isn’t broken?
God covers us with His power today, but in the future kingdom where we will all be together in peace and harmony, He is still the source of our peace, the source of our light, and the source of our life. He doesn’t change. He will be the same then as He is now.
We will change. The world will change. But He never does. He will remain our provider then, just as He is now.
I can’t wait to dig deeper into this passage with you guys this month. Give the whole section a read when you have a moment, and we’ll dive into some more specific word studies later this week.
