I have workaholic tendencies. There. I admit it. Admitting it is the first step in recovery, right?
I like being productive. I like getting things done and checking things off my list. (I may be an INFP, but I was raised by Js and I do like my lists.)
It’s difficult for me to walk away from a job that’s half done. I’m not good at pacing myself, and that’s something I’m working on. But regardless how long it takes me to finish a job, there’s a part of me that’s always thankful for the work that’s still yet to do.
It’s job security.
Did you realize that we have job security in our lives as Christians?
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
If you’re alive and breathing today, God has something for you to do. Your life has a purpose. Your gifts are needed. You have been specially prepared to do something for God while you are alive at this time in history.
Maybe it’s a friendship you need to make. Maybe it’s a person you need to encourage. Maybe it’s a business you need to start. Who knows? It could be anything, because God can use anything. But no matter what His plan and purpose for your life is, the truth remains that where there is life, there is hope (Ecclesiastes 9:4).
This year may have broken you. Life may have thrown you ever curve ball you could imagine (and some you couldn’t). You may have lost everything you thought matters. You may not be able to see any reason to hope.
But did you just take a breath? Did your heart just beat? As long as you’re breathing, you have a reason to hope. You aren’t alive by accident. You aren’t here without a purpose.
God made you so that you can do good things.
So roll up your sleeves. Get focused. Let’s get busy, friends. We have work to do.
May your New Year be blessed, and may God be more real to you today than He was yesterday.

God has work for us
I love this! These are some of the very principles God had laid on my heart as retirement drew near. It wasn't a time to stop working, but simply a change of vocation, with being Christ's hands as the constant. Preach, girl! 😊
Yes! I have a few jobs to do while I'm still alive and breathing!
