God guides us through uncertainty
You may feel uncertain, and that’s okay. Feeling uncertain about life is normal. But don’t be uncertain about God.
I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them. (Isaiah 42:16)
Have you ever needed to navigate to a place in your city that you’ve never been before? What about needing to find your way around a city you’ve never visited? In instances like like, it really helps to have someone who knows the location in your passenger seat.
Sure, GPS is helpful, but it doesn’t always know all the ins and outs of an awkward parking lot. Having a guide makes the whole process of finding your way around in unfamiliar territory much easier.
God is constantly doing new things. Did you realize that? He is always working, always busy, always demonstrating His faithfulness in our lives, and most of the time I’m convinced we don’t even notice. I could be speaking for myself here, but I don’t think so.
It’s tempting to believe that God will just leave us to our own devices, isn’t it? It can certainly feel that way. But He has promised that He won’t. He has promised that He will guide us. And that’s not just down roads we’ve traveled before. He will guide us when He leads us somewhere we haven’t been.
When the road is unfamiliar and you aren’t sure what’s coming next, He won’t forsake you. When the choices are overwhelming and you don’t know what is wise, He won’t leave you blind. When the path twists off into the darkness and you can’t see the end, He will bring Light to your steps so you can walk with certainty.
Life is uncertain because we aren’t in control. And even if we did control our lives, they would still be uncertain because we aren’t all-powerful. But because we know who God is and we know we can trust Him, we can face our uncertain, unpredictable lives with assurance and steadfast confidence.
You may feel uncertain, and that’s okay. That’s valid. Feeling uncertain about life is normal. But don’t be uncertain about God. Trust Him. Trust His love. Put your whole weight on Him. Hold on to Him with all your strength, and whatever road He’s leading you down will end in blessing.
