God already said yes
You don’t need anyone else to tell you that God has said Yes to you. If God has said yes, we don’t need permission from anyone else.
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Imagine that you’re in a situation where your boss has told you that you can take the day off. Wouldn’t that be nice? Just, out of the blue. You can take a personal day for yourself. Would you ask your fellow coworkers for permission too?
If your superiors have told you something is approved, must you seek the approval of those around you in order to validate it? I’d hope not. I’d hope you could trust your boss, that if your superiors tell you that you have the day off, you can just go.
So how do you think God feels when He tells us that all of His promises will come true, yet we still need validation from people around us?
Granted, I think He understands. He’s God. He gets it. But think about that. God—our ultimate authority—has said YES to every promise made to us in His Word. But if God has said yes, we don’t need permission from anyone else.
Something I discovered while I was studying for this week’s devotionals is that God doesn’t just say Yes; He IS Yes (Isaiah 65:16 and Revelation 3:14 speak to this). God is The Amen.
God made so many promises to people in the Old Testament, and many of those promises are relevant to those of us who aren’t Jewish. Jesus was the answer to those promises. He was the One who fulfilled each promise God made, although there are a few promises we’re still waiting on (very eagerly).
You don’t need anyone else to tell you that God has said Yes to you. God said yes already. Believe that. Put your whole weight on it. Let God be glorified through your belief in His promises.
I don’t always include a song, but this one was just too good (and too relevant) to pass up. Give this a listen today!
