What happens when you don't remember the reference?
I made homemade fudge over the holidays. The old-fashioned kind where you judge the candy’s readiness by its consistency (no, I don’t use a thermometer). The problem was I couldn’t find my grandma’s recipe book.
Making old-fashioned candy is really tricky because you have to get the ratios and temperatures and consistencies exactly right, or you end up with stuff that doesn’t taste so good. But I wasn’t just going to give up because I couldn’t find the recipe. I decided to trust my memory. After all, I’ve been making fudge with my grandma since I was a very little girl.
