Five Qualities of Whole People
June 22-28, 2025 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Wholeness Week 4
Who are the “Whole” people in your life?
No, I’m not talking about the diet plan they follow or whether or not they only consume whole grains. Like we’ve been talking about this month, because of Father God’s gracious gift of salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, each of us who follows Jesus has been made whole. Complete. We have everything we need for every situation life can throw at us.
The trouble is, we forget sometimes. Or maybe we didn’t even realize that wholeness is an option for us. But once we understand just what Jesus did for us and embrace His completeness fully, it revolutionizes every area of our lives.
Whole people are the ones who bounce back. They live a life of resilience, generosity, patience, and grace. They aren’t perfect, and they still screw up at times. But the overall vibe of who they are, how they live, and what they are about is consistent. They are peaceful in the midst of storms. They are unyielding under the weight of stress. They are confident even in the face of the unknown.
I’m sure you know someone like that. I know several of them, and I count it a tremendous blessing to call them friends.
When you meet a person who knows that they are whole, there are signs, but you may not recognize them. So that’s what we’re going to finish up this month-long study with this week: Five qualities of whole people.
Monday - They never give in to despair (2 Corinthians 4:9-11)
Tuesday - They know they are never alone (Psalm 56:9)
Wednesday - They protect the weak (Jeremiah 22:3)
Thursday - They live generously (Luke 6:35)
Friday - They love unconditionally (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
Why is it important to identify these people? Well, in my experience, the best way to learn how to live a whole life is to watch those who are already doing it. We need to be learning from each other, and there’s no better resource than someone who has already conquered the same path you are currently walking.
It’s not mimicking. It’s not counterfeiting. It’s mentoring. It’s learning how to live by watching someone else model Christlike behaviors and mindsets.
Find the whole people in your life. Talk to them. Watch them. Listen to them. Find out what God is doing in their hearts (because He never stops working, even in whole people).
And on that note, our memory verse for this week is all about how God won’t stop working on us until He is finished when we get home. This week we are memorizing Philippians 1:6.
God chose you for salvation (He chooses everyone for salvation), but you chose Him in return. And when you did that, you started on a journey with Him where He will build you and prune you and guide you and discipline you. God is a Creator, a Holy Artist, and He never leaves His creations the same way He found them.
But God’s work won’t be completed as long as we exist in this broken world. As long as we are here on Earth, we can’t be totally whole and finished. But one day, sooner than we expect, we will be Home. Once we are Home, that’s where we will be finished finally. That’s where our old sin nature will disappear.
But until we get there, we are works in progress, and God isn’t finished with us yet. So while we won’t reach a state of perfection here on Earth, we can still experience the gift of wholeness because of God’s Spirit within us.
I pray that each of us—me included—will learn to embrace that kind of a mindset and lifestyle.
Hugs, dear friends!
Amy
