Do what you can with what you can do

Why can't you do everything you think you want to do?

Do you have a younger siblings who’s better at things than you are? Ugh. I do.

Even when he was little, my brother could run circles around me in math. It was so frustrating. He was younger, so I thought I should be better than he was.

One day after he’d thoroughly trounced me on a speed drill, I was bawling my face off, and my mom asked me a very important question: “Do you want to be good at math?”

Heck, no. I hated math. I didn’t want a job or a career where I’d have to use it. So why did it matter if I was good at it or not?
