Can you live a peaceful life?
February 20 - February 24, 2023 | Always Peachy Devotionals | Living with Peace Week 3
Is anyone else freezing?
Gracious, I love winter, and I love snow (when I don’t have to get out in it). But it’s cold in Kansas. At least, it’s cold when I’m writing today, and my upstairs office has a single space heater that’s doing its level best to keep up.
One thing I love about Kansas, though, is that the weather will always change. Give me a few months, and I’ll be complaining about how hot it is. So I shall endeavor to be grateful for my stiff, numb fingers while I desperately sip hot tea under my three layers of blankets.
I hope this study of peace has been encouraging for you. Peace is in short supply in our dark, scary world, and once you find it, don’t ever let it go. So far we’ve really only focused on peace in relationships, whether that’s between us and God or between us and other people. But now we’re shifting gears a little this week.
Peace is more than something that happens in our relationships. Peace is a lifestyle. It’s something that you need every day to survive in a world loaded down with anxiety and terror and misconceptions about who God is. So this week, we are going to talk about living a peaceful life and how you can do it.
February 20 - Jesus’ peace looks different
February 21 - You can choose peace
February 22 - God’s peace is better than understanding
February 23 - Don’t let life get too flashy
February 24 - Peace takes work to achieve and maintain
No matter what strategy you use to achieve peace in your life, the one thing that will always work is prayer. You can pray for your own peace. You can pray for the peace of other people.
That’s my prayer for each of you, that you will experience God’s peace. Once you have, nothing else will ever satisfy you again. His peace is so much better than anything the world can give you. Once you’ve got God’s peace, you’ll have the confidence to do just about anything. At least, that’s what our memory verse for this week, Romans 15:13, says:
Find your peace in God. Trust Him. Lean on Him. Rely on Him. Let Him prove Himself and His faithfulness to you, and all the anxieties the world tells you to embrace will fall away. The things the culture tells you to worry about won’t be important anymore.
Peace is a gift that God gives us. It’s result of the Spirit’s power in your life, and it’s time that all of Jesus’ followers picked it up and started using it.
I pray that this week will be helpful for you, that you’ll start learning how to trust Jesus more, and that you’ll start experiencing His peace in your hearts. Believe me. Nothing else can compare.
Love to you all,
Amy
