Can we live with peace between us and God?

Happy February!

Welcome to the Month of Love, or as I like to refer to it, “Singles Awareness Month.” I hope you all are making plans to spend time with the person you love. It’s important to invest in our most significant relationships.

And speaking of relationships, that’s sort of what we’re going to be talking about this month. Not in a romantic sense but in a spiritual sense. I’ve talked to many of you, and something that keeps coming up in our conversations is how to have peace or how to live with peace.

Peace is one of my favorite subjects because I love it so much. But, honestly, not all peace is good. Sometimes what feels like peace is just denial. So how can you tell the difference?

Well, that’s what we’re talking about in February: PEACE. We’re going to talk about living with peace between us and God, with peace between us and others, with peace in our lives, and with peace in moments that aren’t peaceful. And I can’t wait to get started!

This week we’re focusing on how God brought peace between Himself and us, because the thing about peace is that it doesn’t just happen by itself. Something has to MAKE it.

  • February 6 - God made us right with Him

  • February 7 - God paid a high price for peace

  • February 8 - God bought peace once

  • February 9 - God made peace with everything

  • February 10 - God made peace with everyone

Authentic Peace is never accidental. It must always be an intentional act or something that is built between two people or communities or organization. In our natural states, human beings aren’t drawn to peace; we’re drawn to conflict because we’re all sinners. But God’s Word is full of guidance and wisdom on how to live peacefully.

Our memory verse for this week is Psalm 34:14.

Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

I love this verse because it always reminds me that peace never happens without intention and purpose. You must work for peace, and after you work to achieve it, you have to work to maintain it.

One day, in eternity, peace will be our natural state. Peace will be something we don’t have to constantly work for. But we aren’t in eternity yet. We’re in a sad, broken world full of strife and disappointment and chaos. But because we are children of God, because we have the gift of the Holy Spirit, we have access to peace that passes understanding. And we don’t just have it for ourselves. We have it so we can share it with others.

I’m so excited to dive into God’s Word with you this week. May God’s peace surround and keep all of us as we learn more about how to follow Him.

Love you all.

Amy
