Bring an honest perspective
If you won't admit the truth about your flaws, how do you expect to change?
Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone who doesn’t tell the truth? It doesn’t go very far, does it? The interaction loses its appeal once you realize that you can’t trust anything the other person says.
Liars aren’t always malicious, though. Sometimes they’re just massively insecure. But no matter what the motivation, lying does damage in a relationship. It’s a violation of trust. Rather than deepening the relationship, lies split it apart.
That’s how it works with people, and that’s also what happens when you lie to God.
